Informed and Supported Workers Program: Case study shares project outcomes

Following the conclusion of our Informed and Supported Workers (ISW) Program at the end of September, a case study is now sharing some insights from the project’s outcomes.

Commencing in July 2022, the ISW program ran for 15 months and aimed to provide dedicated holistic support to vulnerable seasonal workers, while improving the sustainability of Gippsland’s workforce across the agricultural sector.

The pilot program sought to deliver targeted support to organisations that assist culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) workers and in the process, strengthen Victoria’s horticulture workforce through collaborative activities.

The Informed and Supported Workers (ISW) pilot program, funded by Agriculture Victoria and delivered by VegNET Gippsland through Food & Fibre Gippsland, had a strong focus on helping seasonal workers effectively transition into work and life in Gippsland.

The program connected stakeholders working with CaLD communities, shared useful resources, held events and training sessions, and utilised targeted communication approaches to build the cultural competency of CaLD workers and their employers across the region.

While acknowledging the challenges, the program has paved the way for a more informed and supported CaLD community in Gippsland and will provide a knowledge base for similar initiatives in other areas of Australia.

Read the full case study here, or visit the Informed and Supported Workers (ISW) page for more information about the program.
