Bringing Gippsland Together: Highlights from the First In‑Person Circular Economy Hub Meeting
Gippsland Circular Economy Hub in-person meeting at the Tinamba Hotel 12th March, 2026
On 12 March 2026, the Gippsland Circular Economy Hub marked a significant milestone—hosting its first fully in-person meeting at the iconic Tinamba Hotel. Delivered by Food & Fibre Gippsland (F&FG) in partnership with Sustainability Victoria (SV), the event brought together passionate changemakers from across the region to connect, share ideas, and shape the future of circular economy action in Gippsland.
A Milestone Moment for the Hub
The Gippsland Circular Economy Hub is a growing collaborative network and online platform that connects government, industry, research, and community organisations. Its shared purpose is simple but powerful: to enable, accelerate, and promote circular economy initiatives across Gippsland.
This meeting was a landmark moment for the Hub, creating space for partners—many of whom travelled considerable distances—to finally meet face-to-face. The energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to collaboration, innovation, and regional impact.
Inspiring Conversations and Local Connections
Attendees were treated to a series of engaging presentations from FoodBank Victoria, RDV Gippsland, Food & Fibre Gippsland, and C4 Impact, each offering valuable insights into current projects and future opportunities. These conversations were complemented by a delicious lunch showcasing local Gippsland produce, reinforcing the strong connection between circular economy principles and local food systems.
The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere at Tinamba Hotel fostered meaningful discussions, idea-sharing, and new partnerships—proving once again the value of coming together in person.
Regional Highlights and Opportunities Ahead
The day also featured exciting updates from Shire Councils and the Gippsland Ag Group, as well as discussions on industry development opportunities. A key theme was the potential for collaboration—not only within Gippsland but also with other regions, such as Bega, through shared priorities and aligned project areas.
A Heartfelt Thank You
F&FG would like to sincerely acknowledge Sustainability Victoria, and in particular Chris Francis and Luke Wilkinson, for their outstanding leadership and dedication in facilitating the Gippsland Circular Economy Hub over recent years. Your passion and commitment have laid strong foundations for circular economy work in Gippsland and beyond, and you will be greatly missed.
What’s Next for the Gippsland Circular Economy Hub?
With the announced shutdown of Sustainability Victoria, Food & Fibre Gippsland is committed to securing the Hub’s ongoing governance and future direction. A key focus moving forward will be strengthening the Hub’s digital presence, including updated information on circular economy and bioeconomy initiatives across the region. This work will be supported by data collection and surveys to better reflect regional activity and priorities.
Stay Connected
Further updates and presentations from the event will be shared with the network in the coming weeks. The next Gippsland Circular Economy Hub meeting—held in a hybrid format—is planned for late April, with the final date to be confirmed shortly.
