Seaweed is rapidly gaining recognition and momentum worldwide as a versatile, sustainable and nutritious source of protein. It could well be the next innovative crop for which the food bowl of Gippsland is known for.
Smart Specialisation team- Ben
Ben Gebert heads up the food and fibre stream of the Gippsland Smart Specialisation Strategy (GS3), a regional development initiative executed under partnership between F&FG, the Latrobe Valley Authority (LVA) and other peak regional bodies such as Destination Gippsland and the Gippsland Climate Change Network.
Smart Specialisation team - Elena
Elena Nauta joined the GS3 team at Food & Fibre Gippsland (F&FG) in December 2020 as an Industry Placement Program participant through Federation University, and has continued working on the Sustainable Emerging Commodities (Seaweed and Insect Farming) stream of GS3 as a Graduate Project Officer upon the completion of her placement in July 2021 and Bachelor of Food and Nutritional Science in December 2021.
