Trade Council of Denmark visits Gippsland

Whey from cheese-making is a waste product that producers must dispose of, Gippsland could benefit from new technology capable of turning the currently underutilised product into a revenue stream.

While many processors transport this whey to farms for livestock consumption, the process is costly. Exciting developments for capturing value-added proteins from milk and whey waste have piqued industry interest with more accessible and scalable options suitable for Gippsland processors.

Our strong relationship with the Trade Council of Denmark has led to visits to Gippsland from leaders in this value-adding technology.

Food & Fibre Gippsland is committed to supporting our region with sustainable solutions and circular economy principles. Whey side-stream processing is an encouraging opportunity to explore.
