Informed and Supported Workers (ISW) Program Update

The Informed and Supported Workers (ISW) Program is a pilot program that aims to provide dedicated holistic support to seasonal workers, from the provision of information in a range of languages, training, and skills development; through to referrals for health and legal advice. The ISW Program commenced in July 2022 and will run until June 2023.

New events calendar

We’ve created a monthly calendar of events, to keep workers informed of what’s happening in Gippsland.

What’s on in Gippsland

As part of the ISW Program, we are pleased to provide a monthly ‘What’s on in Gippsland’ poster that includes some free or very low-cost, non-ticketed events that workers may like to attend. It is our hope that these posters can be given to Team Leaders to share and be put up in communal areas for the workers to see.

This initiative was developed following consultation with growers and contractors who identified that workers are keen to get out and about during their time off. If you have any thoughts to share on the topic, or an event you would like to be included, please don’t hesitate to contact Emily Scott, ISW Project Officer on the details below.

Many thanks for sharing this poster with your workers, which can be downloaded via the link below.

Free safe driver training

Working alongside Pacific Labour Facility we are very happy to be able to offer free driver training for all PALM workers across Gippsland. The training will include a 2-hour theory session, along with a practical driving session, both aimed at helping workers drive safer on our roads. The training is open to PALM workers (under either the Pacific Labour Scheme or the Seasonal Worker Program) who already have their International or Victorian driver's licence.

We have three sessions organised, with lunch provided at each session:

  • KooWeeRup on Saturday, April 22nd at 10.30am

  • Lindenow on Saturday, May 6th at 10.30am

  • Sale, at a date and time to be confirmed

If you would like to know more, or to register any of your workers for one of these sessions, please email Emily Scott: emily.scott@foodandfibregippsland.com.au.

Free COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters

If any of your workers need a Covid-19 vaccination or booster, they can get them free at any of the below locations. All they need to do is take photo ID (e.g., passport) and any details of previous vaccinations.

  • Sale: Priceline Pharmacy Sale & Raymond Street Pharmacy

  • Lakes Entrance: Lakes Riviera Amcal Pharmacy

  • Rosedale: Rosedale Family Medical Centre

  • Morwell: Montague’s Pharmacy
