A new awards program is about to be unveiled to recognise, celebrate and reward collaboration and innovation in Agribusiness in Gippsland, with a range of prizes that offer exclusive access to valuable networking and education opportunities.

The Excellence in Agribusiness Awards will be launched on Friday April 12 at Farm World as part of the Official launch of Food & Fibre Gippsland.

The competition will adopt a two-tiered approach with two premier awards; Gippsland Agribusiness of the Year and Gippsland Young Agribusiness Leader of the Year, followed by a range of eight awards across the entire food & fibre supply chain.

These include : Excellence in Service to the Food & Fibre Industry, Excellence in Workforce Capability, Excellence in Exporting, Excellence in Research & Development, Excellence in Food Manufacturing, Excellence in Innovation, Excellence in Sustainability and Excellence in Adaption to Change.

Critiqued by an independent high calibre panel made up of business leaders with a broad understanding of food & fibre business management, the judging process will assess entries for innovation and excellence, as well as business practices that maximise productivity and profitability.

Entries will be open from April 12 to June 14 and the program will culminate in August with a gala industry event to announce the winners.

Food & Fibre Gippsland Interim CEO Dr Nicola Watts is delighted to be collaborating with a committed family of sponsors and stakeholders to create a program that gives Gippsland Agribusinesses the chance to shine on a big stage at the Global Table event in Melbourne later this year.

“All of our winners will be showcased at Global Table, Melbourne, which will be a fantastic opportunity to connect with global industry leaders, corporates and governments who are all committed to transforming the food industry through innovation, investment and trade” she said.

“It’s wonderful to be recognizing Gippsland agribusinesses through this new awards program, and then giving the winners access to an incredible forum to learn from and network with at the Global Table event in early September” Dr Watts said.

But the rewards don’t stop there, with Gippsland Agribusiness of the Year winner presented with a spot on the KPMG Agri-Food Tech Traction Tour, a 7-day international education trip valued at $15,000, and the Gippsland Young Agribusiness Leader provided a place in the Emerging Leaders program run by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, valued at $10,000.
